UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED

I didn't get a better title for today's post. So, I decided to plagiarize Ralph Nader ,who in 1965 published a book with that title-Unsafe at any speed,-where he denounced the lack of North American auto industry's interest in producing safer cars, choosing  as scapegoat the Chevrolet Corvair.
But, the issue is not that. The subject is the safety or lack  of what we  produce in our habitat. When accidents and tragedies  happen within a very short time we say that "the witches are loose". Let’s look at the facts:-
13 years ago  3,000 Americans died in a single afternoon, in one of the worst terrorist attacks in my opinion.

An accident with a transatlantic causes a lot of deaths and losses of any nature.A few days later, as if by coincidence. in a risky maneuver, another transatlantic almost has the same fate and newspapers didnt waste any time in manufacturing labels – the Commander was also Italian. The news tell us that Airbus finds new cracks in the giant A-380, but these do not compromise flight safety!

Unexploded bombs from World War II are localized and compromise the security of several cities.
Would the World ,without us, be so distraught?Well, the world without Man wouldn't be World! Maybe all of this happens because  Man is dangerous or at least,  makes its existence a dangerous adventure. We were born in danger. Our feature is the unpredictable.
When we were born we were inserted in a fast world.Supersonic beings! The Earth spins at 1674 km/h. we travel around our luminous central at 108,000 km/h. Our Universe was born from an explosion, the Big Bang  .We raised in a violent and fast  environment, bombarded every moment by dozens of meteorites in a real space guerilla war.
Does this  explain our nature?
One thing is certain: the danger attracts us, fear is part of our nature and guarantee the survival instinct.Yet we are challenging. We do projects without knowing if they will work well.To find out...just testing. And there will always be someone willing to do so, even if it costs  his life! We created this whole panorama because we  instinctively live without thinking about death, yet we are the only beings with full consciousness.
The Greek philosopher Epícuro said:” Death does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is not here. And when it does come, we no longer exist.

In our various moments that alienation or refusal to accept our final destination-we are fully aware of immortality-we shoot at  the unknown,   achievements we imagined, because the imagination takes us to a Universe of other and various dimensions.

These are moments of human creation, perfect or imperfect creations, but unsafe at any speed.
We can circumvent our fallibility , but we can not  prevent the universe from overcoming  our limitations by creating surprises and pitfalls that show themselves as challenges to our eyes.
And as we are products of this same process we repeat what was done, we start all over again, we change the approach, we estimate the odds and face the world at any speed , knowing that what waits for  our boiling blood,  is this indefinable thing  that tell us we survived   one more human adventure, no matter how insecure it may have looked like.
